    Hi All
I don't remotely supose there is any way of finding a Royal Engineers service no?
Would like to order my wifes grandfathers WW2 service records, for her and his daughters, we have his personal details, death certificate, birth, living and death location in Birkenhead, Merseyside etc and know he was in the Royal Engineers but see the MOD form requires a service number? Plus also regiment is unknown?
Is there any possible way forward or no way to find out?
    With thanks
    Andy

Hi Andy, you have everything needed.

    * SERVICE NUMBER AND/OR DATE OF BIRTH MUST BE INCLUDED.
    Means one or the other.

Thanks, looked at forms again, missed that first time round! I will get the forms filled in and signed by his daughter and sent off! I hear there's currently quite a wait for records at the moment so look forward to them.
Thanks for your time in replying.
    Thank you again

    Hi Andy

MOD records usually arrive in 2 to 3 weeks now. Their service is much improved:)

Hi Andy, did you ever receive those records? Most likely he was in the 2nd (Cheshire) Field Squadron RE as he was a Birkenhead man. What was his name ? Please let me know I might have some info. Sorry took so long to reply as only just picked up my own researches again. My Dad was in this Squadron.
