Hello, I have just received my father's national service records. Sadly he is no longer living. My dad, George Mills, joined REME in 1956 and in January 1957 was posted to 32 Armd Workshop, Langenhagen Barracks, Hannover, Germany - if I am reading the records correctly.

I remember my father talking about his NS experience with great fondness and looking at all the old B&W photos he has from that time, I think he had a great time.

I would love to see some photos of the barracks in that period, I understand it no longer exists, or any other information that might help me flesh out his time there.

    Many thanks.

    Mary

    Hi Mary,
these barracks were already existing before the war. Close to an airport (today the Hanover airport ), it was necessary to have these barracks for Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe.
Should ever wish to visit the place, take a taxi. or one of my relatives may be able to help you. There home is not to far away.
    Cheers
    Stefan.
