    Hi

Working through a war diary of an RE unit in Greece 1944, I have come across two abbreviations used when describing what they plant to 'mouse hole' through buildings.

The first is PHE which is probably Plastic High Explosive.

The second and more obscure one is GC.

Any ex sappers out there who can help?

    Thanks as ever

    Hi

The diary talks about placing a slab of GC onto the top of a chair leaning onto the wall you plan to blow making a hole large enough for a soldier to get through.

Gun Cotton is a great answer, thanks everyone.
