I must say I'm still really looking forward to the new style forum when we get it.
Otto is putting in a lot of work getting ww2f looking rather slick & we're all getting used to how it all works.
Those of you who are a bit scared of change will soon get used to it.

Am I right in thinking Invision is designed to work with smartphones? It certainly seems to.

Built in phone skin is pretty good.
Nearly all the same functions as the main site, but faster loading.
Quite intrigued to see how it copes with the Gallery, but that's not switched on yet on WW2F.

Do you know the date of D-Day (and H-Hour) yet by any chance please?

[N.B. The term "D-Day" is being used generically. It is not a question about the invasion of N.W. Europe during WW2!].

At first sight, the example of the screen looks like fine. The change to a blue background might be a good idea as well. If nothing else it may help prevent newcomers mistaking any connection between the 'WW2 Talk' website and any other websites that currently use a green background.

That screenshot's just on a plain vanilla ipb skin.
We shall be remaining green.... Eventually.

    As to when it happens.
When the techno-wizards are happy. ;)

So glad it's back. I was having serious withdrawal symptoms. Just out of curiousity, how much data had to be transferred?

I'm stunned at the file sizes of phtographs downloaded from smart phones these days and just wondered how big WW2 Talks "file size" was.

It all looks fab by the way, well done.

    Phew !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you hear my sigh of relief ?

Since I had my new PC set-up installed last year, I've been using Mozilla Frirebox to keep tally of all the "important" threads here on ww2talk.

I've just gone to Firefox's Library, clicked on a very old link and to my utter relief it has made the transition to the new site very smoothly and has taken me to the item I'd previously saved. When you get to my age you find yourself extremely grateful for things that actually work so don't be surprised that I'm getting excited at what might appear to be very commonplace :)

I've no doubt at all that over the next few weeks I shall find fault with some inconvenience or other but in the meantime a huge thank-you to all concerned for preserving this immensely important site.

    Lest we forget !

So here we are again! If I had know in advance I would have posted a couple of hours later to see if we still suffer from the Round Earth Syndrome (closure at 7am, or 6 am, or 5 am, etc, etc depending on time zone :) )

And we have the old emoticons too! :icon_fork:

Nice naval colour theme, are there any others? :D

:thankyousign: to the boffins who gave some much time and effort to all of us!

    Very Nice.

Thank you. So easy to use I mastered all I will normally need in 5 minutes and I am the biggest techno dunce on the Forum.
