Exact meaning of date

    If a soldiers record states his serivce abroad is from 25 11 42, is this the point of departure from the UK or arrival at destination abroad (in this case North Africa). I understand they departed from Greenock or the Clyde. Similarly for dates of return, would 6 12 45 signiify departure from Italy or arrival in the UK although in that case it was flown by Lancaster!

    On my own records the relevant sheet (see below) shows both Embarked & Disembarked dates so there is no confusion whatsoever.
    This particular sailing was to North Africa in April '43.

    LooKing at conoyweb there doesn't seem to be any convoys arriving departing on those dates.
    Nearest dates is for convoy WS 23, arriving Aden Nov. 21st.
