It would probably make sense if Archibald was already serving in the Army. For example, my grandfather joined-up with the TA in 1939, went on summer camp and then was mobilized. He does not appear in the 1939 Register. I have also tried to find out if they had children, but cannot find any BMD record.
Just to confirm: England & Wales, Civil Registration Death Index, 1916-2007 Name: Archibald Whitehouse Death Age: 68 Birth Date: 10 Oct 1907 Registration Date: Sep 1976 Registration district: Plymouth Inferred County: Devon Volume: 21 Page: 1821 TD
i have Dvr Archibald Whitehouse listed as going in with the 1st Parachute Squadron HQ Troop. this would fit in with being on the glider with Lt Timothy Romilly Hall who was in C Troop, a previous explanation for this is offered by the information received from Sapper Tom Hicks of C Troop by member Horsapassenger.
I also have Dvr Whitehouse as HQ Troop, but would be interested in any more information that may be available, about him or others in glider loads of 1st Para Sqdn RE. Please feel free to send a PM.
