    Dear Stolpi,

Thank you very much for your posts. Yes i'am fimiliar with the book ''oorlog in de achtertuin'', my neighbours had this book so i'fe read it . thanks for your peak!
I know i was missing pte Philpot and Sidney southam, i've deliberately omitted them from the list because i already found a portait from these two soldiers. but thank you for your response on this!

My purpose by this topic is to find more information and pictures about Dinxperlo in wartime (1940/1945, especcialy 1945). Me, my dad, a former teacher (age 85) ( and some other interested people) are bissy to interview witnesses of the liberation of Dinxperlo and the years before. With the information we have/get we may will make a book about Dinxperlo in wartime and my mission is to do research on the internet. My mission is to find portraits of the fallen soldiers in dinxperlo and to ask for people who may have more information/photo's about dinxperlo 1940/1945. I hope i give you a idea about my purpose by this topic ;)

Here's the two battalion war diaries

    WO 171/5268 5 Seaforth Highlanders (Ross-shire Buffs, The Duke of Albany's) 1945 Jan.-Dec.

WO 171/5154 7 Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (Princess Louise's) 1945 Jan.- Dec.

I am now in contact with the Argyll and Sutherland Museum in Scotland and I will donate any of their battalion war diaries copied for forum members to the museum for free. They currently have all the battalion, brigade and A/T Coy related diaries for 1940.

    Cheers
    Andy

In 1975 my dad has interviewed a farmer who lived on a house near the place were sidney's stuart tank was hit by a panzerfaust and killed. This is a interview from about 5 A4 papers long with very much details and information. On one picture you see a portait of Sidney and on the second picutre you see the farm(butterfactory) where this drama took place.

Today i've made some pictures about the hitten house on this picture nowadays! This house stays in the hamlet called ''het beggelder'' where in end of march 1945 heavy bombardments have taken place by the royal artillery.

Here some pictures about the carpet factory in 1945 and nowadays. In this factory was a flakabteilungsgroup stationed. Unfortunately the whole right side of this factory is aborted, but not strange if you see the damage on that side.

    Dear Andy,

Thank you very much for your response!
That is interesting, do you have copy's of the original diary's where these fallen soldiers are natated? That's very interesting! If i am right this number (for example:) WO 171/4703 is a personal soldier number? Do you have more number ref the fallen soldiers on the list above? And do you may know how i can find out what number belongs to who? Thank you very much for your help!

Yes, WO 171/4703 1 Northamptonshire Yeomanry 1945 Jan.- Dec must be the diary of Sidney Harold Southam!

The letter and numbers are the file ref numbers for the regimental or battalion diary not a individual man.

    WO = War Office

171 = North West Europe Series

4703 = The 4703 rd file is the Series.

Just to confirm they are not a soldiers diary but unit diaries.

    Cheers
    Andy
