Definition of the term "Mobile Replenishment"

The War Establishments issued in late 1943 for Divisional Signals (both Infantry and Armoured) and Tank Brigade Signals all include a 15-cwt wireless truck (with a No.22 set), identified as operating in relation to "mobile replenishment".

This vehicle was in all cases part of a Brigade Signal Section (or Troop for Armoured Div Sigs) and appears to have been an outstation of the Brigade 'administrative' net. It was eliminated from the revised Divisional Signals WEs issued in early 1944, and the postwar Independent Armoured Brigade Signals.

I cannot find a definition of what 'mobile replenishment' was; I think long ago I assumed it was related to expendable stores of signal equipment, however I now suspect it was actually related to the RASC.

Has anyone come across the term mobile replenishment? I can only surmise that it referred to an RASC detachment that travelled with a Brigade, carrying stores, rather than carrying them to forward points for collection by unit transport. If so then this detachment would likely require a link to the Brigade Admin wireless net, and/or back to the Commander RASC.

    Thanks,

    Gary

Is it not the same as what the tankies call "rolling replenishment" where they are fed and refueled more or less on the move. Rather than laager up. Bit like a pit stop on a racetrack.

I'd be inclined to inernal unit resupply - most likely spare sets, batteries and such. RASC assets should not appear on the ToE at that level, they are the external link, A or B echelon almost exclusively.
    I'm intrigued to know too....
