    Hi Forum,

i recently managed to get hold of a copy of my grandfathers war records... (excellent news!)

however i am trying to work out some of his postings and where he went...

He seems spent a fair amount of his military jaunt in the R.E

    1. He went to NW Europe as a sapper with the 101st field company R Mon 26/6/1944 does any one have any info on what he may have likely to have been doing? i knew he went to Normandy

    2. Posted to 149 Eng ASS Sqdn 20/10/1943 does anyone know what this would be and what they did?

    3. Posted to W.C.SJ.O.L.S Ludlow 01/10/1941 does anyone know what this would be and they did?

I have a few more but this would be a great help to start with :salut:

    TIA

    Wayne

    Hi,

I’ve been on the forum long enough to say that new members often post “transcriptions” of what they believe is written on a service record only for it to be found to be inaccurate.

That's the reason members prefer to have sight of the queried document so they can make up their own mind about the issue.

I’m sure that if you post the original service record documents that members will be able to answer your questions.

    thanks for the response :)

    i will rephrase my questions

what was/is 149 Eng ASS Sqdn circa 1943 and what they did they do?

    and

i would like some more information on the Southern Junior Leaders School in castle Lodge in Ludlow?

i'm not worried about inaccuracies i'm looking for pointers :)
