Seeking information about PATRICK TAYLOR, Private 14640602, 156th Bn,Parachute Regiment AAC. Son of William and Caroline Taylor of Malvern, Worcestershire. He was killed in action during operation MARKET GARDEN when the c47 Dakota 43-15180 of USAAF 314 TCG was "hit by flak and crashed at Ochten 20km SW of Oosterbeek. It was a long time ago BUT is there anyone out there who knew him or knows anything about that incident on Sept 18 1944. His three brothers still live and know little about that day. Also maybe relatives of the other 17 Paras killed with him might get un touch. They are all together in Jonkerbos.
Welcome Titch, here is a link that if you have not seen it will be very helpful. Patrick Taylor | ParaData as will this one from a thread on this forum, http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/nw-europe/23487-questions-regarding-my-grandfather-156th-parachute-battalion-airborne.html
You might find this interesting. I'll se if I can find any more I would certainly recommend the book "From Delhi to Arnherm" if you are interested in the 156 John
Hello Titch and welcome aboard. Jason has given you a couple of excellent pointers to help with your research. All I can add is to say that you really ought to try and get hold of the excellent book "From Delhi to Arnhem", by John Patrick O'Reilly, as Horsapassenger has said and also if possible a copy of "Chalk 619" by Philip Reinders (who is a member of the forum). Both cover the incident you refer to in great detail. All the best..........
Titch, Apparently the brother of one of the passengers goes to this memorial on 18/09 to lay a wreath and has been doing so for the last few years....I believe the memorial is close to the crash site...this brother is I understand it going again this September and also taking part in the 156 tour..are you aware of the 151/156 Association?
I've tried to upload a photo of the memorial taken when I was there a few weeks ago but the internet appears problematic tonight so will try tomorrow....I also went to Jonkerbos if you need a headstone photo......
Thanks, I had seen Para Data. I am trying to locate memorial by local people near ochten. Will this work?

Wonderful. So the family were visited. Wonder if it was my (deceased) wife they spoke to, I guess so as the other two were away in the ATS. All three of Pat's sisters are now dead as is one of his Four brothers.
Titch, You posted yesterday...Thanks, I had seen Para Data. I am trying to locate memorial by local people near ochten. The picture is the memorial erected by locals near the crash site....Will post up headstone later.....are you going in September.....????
