Having trouble finding an entry about a name on the above memorial. The name is Cpl E A Hunt Reconnaissance Corps. I heve searched both Geoffs site anc CWGC but no luck. Any help appreciated. Cheers Paul
Mitch, I suspect that this is your man. CWGC have him listed as being buried at Reichswald Forrest. Is it possible his body was found at a later date, but has not been removed from the memorial ? Name: HUNT, EDMUND ARTHUR Initials: E A Nationality: United Kingdom Rank: Corporal Regiment/Service: Reconnaissance Corps, R.A.C. Unit Text: 15th Regt. Age: 32 Date of Death: 22/02/1945 Service No: 14508039 Additional information: Son of Edmund Arthur Hunt and Grace Hunt, of Leyton, Essex. Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead Grave/Memorial Reference: 58. D. 3. Cemetery: REICHSWALD FOREST WAR CEMETERY
I too found that man, as other 15 Recce men are remembered on the memorial that idea is feasible. Cheers Paul
Hi Paul, One IG is on Dunkirk memorial but listed under cwgc as buried in a cemetery. I would agree with Phil, that this man's body was probably found after his name was inscribed on memorial.
They still years behind with that for Example War Correspondent Anthony Cotterel name is also still on the wall.
