Unfortunately, I only copied the right side of map 7F/1, not the left side that Andrew correctly pointed out to me. I got this three years ago at Kew and no longer have the file reference it can be found in. :( Unless someone else has a copy, Cordinates Translater can be used, but I've found you don't get pinpoint accuracy.

Kyle, a six figure grid reference conventionally describes a 100m square, so there is plenty of scope for separate graves within that area. It's quite approximate even if it's as accurate as they could make it.

I've used the Coordinates translator and this is what it comes up with.

    Here’s GSGS 4250 150,000 7F/1 Caen.

The Grid Reference shows the location a bit further south than the Coordinates Translator.

That's why I mentioned that the Cordinates translator is not that great for accuracy. I've found it a 1000 metres out on occasion during my own research. Thanks for posting the section of the map.

One thing I have only just noticed about concentration forms included for some records... they contain a column for casualty status.

So if unsure whether someone DOW or was KIA etc, these might just be able to help.

    Hi

The Concentration docs I have looked at relating to casualties in Greece sadly do not have such a column. But they do have a "for official use only" and the majority filled with "C.H.".

Anyone have any idea what "C.H." means?

That's a good question Gus. My grandfather has C.H. in that column too.

    Excellent stuff Kyle, thanks.

Are there any other abbreviations used in that column that we are likely to see that you know of?

Save me asking later when I find one.

interesting already, although hard to search for example :

JONKERBOS CEM, the records of one man lead you onto :

Brennan M 75 sqd 1 - 2 -45 7 of his crew are missing, he was buried in VILT till 15-5-51

which leads onto row xxiii H1 UBS from Elden
    H2 Brennan
H4 Polish pilot from Imjuiden - not on register cos Pole
    M8 UBS from Dodewaard

then onto row XXII F9 UBS from Elst
    E9 UBS from mook
    A9 UBS from Haalderen

and onto where some casualties from Bomber command buried in Berlin were found in Germany, all on one download concentration report !!

I think you have to pick one man in a cemetery download the documents, and see what it brings up !

Just looking at some details for Kohima the temp burials are very useful with the different battles in which they fell used as a Prefix ie Garrison Hill Cemetery? Annoyingly on the bottom of the concentration documents it has `For remarks PTO` but the other sides haven't been scanned :(

    Morning,

I'm finding a few units pencilled in on the concentration papers, previously only referred to as 'Royal Engineer's, 'Royal Artillery' etc,

    Regards,
