    Hello

Does anyone know when census serials 15xxx, 16xxx, 43xxx and 46xxx would have been issued, and which Marks they relate to?

I have 3 CLY in November 41 almost entirely with 15 and 16, thanks to Tom's work.

Does anyone have a complete list of the early production numbers by any chance?

    Many thanks!

    Andreas

    Hi Andreas,

    I have the following:-

    T15546 – T15645 Mk I
    T15646 – T15745 Mk I & Mk II
    T15746 – T15845 Mk I
    T16558 – T16657 Mk I & Mk II
    T43652 – T43751 Mk II
    T43752 – T45213 Mk II & III
    T46162 – T46261 Mk II

Perhaps someone can give you the splits between the Mk’s.

I would be interested to know the numbers of 3 CLY if you have them.

    Cheers

    Kevin

Great thank you Andreas. I didn't realise that I had the numbers from the Axis link but the 45 numbers from your War Diary link are all new ones to me.
If you ever come across anymore census numbers would you please post them on this board or email them to me directly.
These have all been added to my database.

    Thanks again

    cheers

Now this is embarassing Kevin. These were not 9 Lancers, but Queen's Bays. Very sorry for the confusion, I opened the wrong folder.

    Hi Kevin

For the moment this is it. When I find more, I'll post it. Many thanks for the names. Do you know the number of GIRAFFE?

Also, any idea what types of tanks are covered by the census numbers in 1 RTR and 4 RTR?

    Cheers

I think this might be what you chaps are looking for. The figures in brackets next to certain census numbers is the suspected number of faulty axles (made by Shaws)

    Hi Andreas,

I had T.7032 but did not know which Squadron it was in although the number is mentioned in Miltary Modelling, Vol 41 No. 5.
T.15292 and T.1802 were both new to me.
    Thanks for all 3.

    cheers

4 R.T.R. Matilda II T6849 DEFIANCE survived at least until 27 November, there's a photo of it receiving NZ 19 Battalion on Ed Duda.

Thanks Andreas. I had a bit of a computer crash over Christmas and nearly lost all my databases. But I have made a mental note on a piece of paper of this name and number.

    Cheers

Joining the thread somewhat late, but I think a some of the serials have been misallocated to tank type.

I believe it should be ALL six of the A10 series noted above were A10 Mk.IA (Cruiser Mk.IIA).

I understand the 35 off A10 Mk.I (Cruiser Mk.II) (Vickers MG) fell into these serial ranges: T8091-8100, T5909-5921 & T9191-9203. Of these, 31 were 'lost' in France and the remaining 4 were never dispatched to the Middle East.

Similarly, ALL 11 of the A13 serials above are A13 Mk.IIA (Cruiser Mk.IVA). The "Vickers MG" variant of the A13 Mk.II (Cruiser Mk.IVA) fell in the range T9096-9159. There were 64 in total and 58 were 'lost' in France, leaving 6 survivors in the UK which were not sent to the Middle East.

This is based upon my own analysis of serial allocations published by credible sources thus I cannot refer you to an official document.
