Competition to find Adam a new avatar

The impossible has happened. Adam has found an avatar worse than the old one.
He appears to need help. How about a competition to find him one more suitable?

Ok, the thread was started 6 hours ago and you're pulling it because of "lack of interest"? You're not giving people an awful lot of time are you? Leave it go for a while and see what happens. You cant expect lots of responses immediately. These things take time.

 

Also remember the time difference; six hours ago I was asleep and it was the middle of the night in UK!!!!!

 

Yeah me too!!! FAST asleep!

 

It is just in my nature to help something along for someone. Like I did with Christos thread of the quiz on war dogs.
It's a bad feeling when no one helps.

How about this Adam? It's called "The Moderator".

 

You just need to learn some patience, and remember people have real lives off forum. We've all started plenty of threads to which people have never replied.

 

Yes I know. Everyone has that happen to them. It is a lot more important to make members feel good than it is to ban them. Too many moderators don't understand that about human nature. They feel that their role is a policeman to parcel out punishments. It isn't. It's to see that punishments are never needed.

You could say I had a private life as well. My granchildren just acted in the nativety play at the cathedral and I was the photographer.
I enjoyed coming home to my forum though.

 

We're not parcelling out punishments, at least I dont think we are!! We are trying to get you to keep it open and explain our reasons as to why we think it would be more successful. I'm not dissing you.

I would like to think that as moderators we try and encourage people to keep posting and start new threads.

BTW, how did the nativity play go??

 

Well Owen, when you go to the club, you say 'I'm going to my club".
and I say to my wife, "I'm going to connect to my forum for awhile".
It doesn't mean I own either.

That is a very good question Gnomey. He has to make a very social decision. If he doesn't choose one of ours, we might throw ourselves under a train or something. Then he'd feel awful forever.

Aviator....I AGREE with everything you say.....You DID make my heart feel GLAD that SOMEBODY was actually reading what I posted....even comments that are bad, I will now not be to worried about Moderator motives, becuase Aviator has shown us all how a Moderator should function...

What he enunciates is true...it IS better to adopt a positive approach to this site, to stay polite MOST of the time (we are human, after all, and expecting perfection in behaviour is misguided....

I now listen very closely to what this bloke tells me, because he has proven 'bona-fides"....

I would have said basically the same for anyone, ..AVIATOR just happened to be the one that got there first...credit that to his restless wanderings onsite, similar to my own...he comments on all topics, not just the ones he;s interested in, as most site people do...and he shares a habit with all the other people that are moderators on this site...

They are VERY WELL READ AND INFORMED....Corrections from your group of Mods are 'tops'...I've not yet had cause to re-correct anyone of them...and, I particularly like the general 'tone' that is adopted here....I can put together something on this site that is controversial, like the Nazi period, and the Mods make sure , all of them, that harrassment by people with an axe to grind is kept to a minimum (it's naive to expect such a controversial topic to get NO negative responces at all....I get the feeling I could even be critical of SOVIET GENERALS and still be given the opportunity to state my case...

You people are doing a wonderful, well-read, and tolerant job....Keep up the good work from you all, because it's your great attitude that 'makes' this sight...

As for a new Avatar for Adam, I would welcome it...the last one looked very much like Boris Karloff or Bela Lugosi...and the Evil Santa I definately would not show the kiddies at Christmas......anything different would be nice....I just wish i could work out how to put one up for myself....and my suggestion? Something that screams "PANZER"...
