Mentioned on BBC 2 about Scottish lochs
    Dumfries and Galloway
I think it was Loch Ryan where the Sunderlands were based

Item re WW2 and a chap on the prog mentioned his friend was killed when throwing incendiary bombs over a wall Secret Scotland - Braid Fell Bombing Range when one exploded and killed Paddy Breslin. He said it was after the planes stopped flying
Nothing on CWGC re his name

Although this could have happened after 31st Dec 1947

According to your Secret Scotland link the range is on the shores of Loch Ryan, near Cairnryan. This incident at Braefell (? Braid Fell) is in the right location.

Just watched that programme. Apparently there were lots of those bombs lying around, but only one of them were live and it killed his friend.
