    Hi all.
I have a photo of my dad and other tank crew stood In front of a Churchill Mk IV which was loaded on a transporter. It shows the number T 32345. I cannot be certain that this was the Tank my dad was driver in but he may well have had some connection with it. He was in B Sqn 147 RAC.
If anyone has any more info on this vehicle I’d be grateful to hear it,
    Many thanks

Anyone care to guess the suffix? Most in this series started as MkI's and were re-worked and have either R or /R. A later re-work group has /C - but the only ones I have photos of were all used by either the OAC or 79th Armoured. This suffix looks like /D - the only tank with a D suffix that I have is the Great Eastern Ramp in Ottawa!

B Sqn had 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10 Troops with names beginning with (in order) Sa-, Se-, Si-, So- & Su-.

A Sqn tanks had R- names and C Sqn had T- names. And I haven't got any of 'em!

    Hello Christian.
Many thanks for the reply, interesting stuff. The research I’ve done after I’d posted this tells me that the photo, which is one of 3 taken in snow of tanks on transporters, we’re taken in the Ardennes. 147 Rgmt tanks were loaded on transport near Huy on 28 December 44 but moved off on 29th. I believe they were under command of Guards Armoured Division and working with 5th Guards Regiment. I Wonder if there were a few different units harboured in the same area?
My Dad was in B Sqn 7 troop. Do you have a list of their tank names by any chance?
    Cheers
    Ian

Hello Ian- Unfortunately, no. All the names in 7 Troop began with Se---. I believe! KevinT in his 'WWII Tank and Vehicle Names, version 9' (available as a resource here) has 5 names for A Sqn - but one of them, "CRAIL", doesn't follow the R- names rule. As far as I know the only historical record of the 147th RAC is a 4-page summary chapter in the History of the Royal Hampshire Regiment by Scott Daniell. cheers Christian
