    Hi All,

Been having computer problems of late, my 11 year old Apple IMAC is giving up the ghost. It is going to take me a while to get to grips with all the new tech on this new one. Managed to transfer about 98% of me stuff, so no loud screams from here just yet. Just my iTunes and back up facilities to go and I will be back up and running.

    Message over!!

Had a minor disaster today. After backing up my Burma files on Thursday, my separate hard drive decided to wipe all of my war diaries and other similar papers (approximately 20% of my kingdom). This was my main source of reference for my role as Chindit Society archivist. Fortunately, I have managed to extract most of these files from my old IMAC, but at a very slow and laborious pace. You live and learn. :banghead:

So very frustrating when this happens!
I am so pleased that you have managed to salvage some of, if not most, of your very hard work.

Thank you. I'm please to report that I have managed to draw back everything in tact. This was finally achieved at around 3am this morning. The old Apple Mac did me proud and stayed active long enough to download 25GB of files over four long hours. I've moved the war diaries file to several different locations now for extra safety, but my problem is that my research evolves so quickly it is sometimes difficult to keep back ups tidy. Anyway, all's well that ends well!

Well, after just under 11 years, I have inputed every story, anecdote, photograph and family narrative onto the pages of my website. The last resource to be included was completed today, and this was a nominal roll of potential participants of Operation Longcloth, collated from the Burma Star Memorial Fund website, BSA memberships roll.

For anything new to add, I will have to wait for new family enquiries or information from other contributors. Here is the above-mentioned roll from the BSA memberships with strong Chindt 1 connections:

My webpage counter passed the 2 million mark last night. Taken over 12 years to reach this point, but not bad for a fairly niche site. Thanks as always for your support everyone. :salut:
