If you saw it what did people think if it?
I thought it was relatively ok for Channel 5.....perhaps enough didn't come across about how the dam that Johnnie Johnson bombed wasn't suitable for the bomb.....i.e they just dropped it and didn't bounce it towards the dam.....

Also does anyone konw what happened to the other surviving Lancasters...there was a comment that several 'survived' the war only to be melted down.....but more details anyone???

I thought the programme was a good watch, it was obviously very moving for him to go back there. definatley worth watching.

I thought it was a good programme but I must admit I felt uncomfortable that the itinery of Mr Johnson's tour made him feel guilty about his role in the Dams Raid and presumably his other missions. I can fully understand his anti-war sentiment because of the losses of his colleagues and of the German casualties. I know of no ex-serviceman who thinks of war as the right way forward but any guilt, in my view, should lie with the Politicians and diplomats who fail to avert (or instigate) wars not with the soldiers, sailors and airmen that have to do the dirty work. Far from being guillty I have nothing but respect for those in Bomber Command and the way they carried out their campaign.

Agree wholeheratedly and as I feel apart from bombing what other methods of 'striking back' did the Brits have at that point in the war?

Watched it tonight. A good programme. Agree about the target not being suitable but never being said. Must have been hard for Mr Johnson to go to Germany, sometimes you really do need to see both sides of the story.
Thought it was very intersting about T-Tommy and the dig in France.
