Thought I'd added this a while back. Nothing to do with WW2, but rather pleasing and definitely a Castle: BBC News - France's new medieval castle Gudelon, a fortress castle in Puisaye : the official site of the medieval worksite.
Ok, not a castle but on a similar theme: Coalhouse fort, East Tilbury has quite an interesting history from Elizabethan times up to WW2. I will try to look up some info I have around and post it. Interestingly Tilbury fort (of QE1 fame) was not fortified to the same extent in WW2, perhaps because it is further upstream on the Thames. Both had, I believe, some WW2 AA defences and there is a quite well preserved heavy AA battery near Coalhouse which is not too well known and is on private land now. Mike
