Rob, Here is the last paragraph from the book " A Canloan Officer " by R.F. Fendick who served with the Middlesex Regt: But I will never lose my love and respect for my British mates, earned while we were a small part of that historic campaign. Together we endured a lot that was boring, much unpleasant, and some terrifying, but we also enjoyed many good times and close comradeship. They were marvelous people, and their wonderful spirit helped one enjoy the good times, and survive the bad. It was an honour and privilege to have been accepted as a Die Hard. Cheers from the colony, Randy

A query..... Capt Graeme Black, South Lancs Regt & 2 Commando. I know he was Canadian - but he's not shown as a CanLoan officer. Joined the British Army directly? Were Canloan officers regular canadian army ie career officers, or were they wartime commissioned as well? Pete
Pete According to the London Gazette, he got a commission with the South Lancs with a British Service Number (106240) on 1 December 1939. This would suggest he joined the British Army and not the Canadian Army. His CWGC entry also states that he has British nationality. Cheers - Rob
