Looking for help in finding the dates and first location of burial for the following Canloan members if anyone can hel. I have looked them up on the CWGC site and can not find any records. I am not sure if there is any official Canadian site that might have info I want. The names I am researching are all from the 53rd Welch Regiment. They are: 4th Batallion Major Charles L Fisher Lt. Gordon Fisher Lt William J Mickle Lt (Major) Cyril D Whittington 6th Batallion Cpt. William A pearley 7th Batallion Major William H Black Lt. Maurice Joynt Lt Wilfrid Sabourin Capt William F Vance 9th Batallion Lt Moe Rosenthal 13th Batallion Capt Donald L Graham. I am most interested in any who died on August 30th 1944. Thank you.
Do you mean 53rd (Welsh) Division ? I'm sure we've pointed out the difference to you before. No use listing the battalions without mention their regiment.
Inputting all those name and a death year of 1944 only produces 1 possible for me but even then I cant be certain as we need someone with access to Ancestry Canada Alberta, Canada, Deaths Index, 1870-1966 results for Donald Graham Donald Graham 1944 Some of those name produce results but they are either not the right rank, not the right nationality or not the right date TD
Hi Richard, Here is a link to the full service records of the 44,000+ Canadian WW2 Casualties that I came across about 6 months ago. It is free access on Ancestry.com. I’ll leave it to the OP to search for his subjects. Steve https://www.ancestry.com/search/collections/canwwiikia/
I just found your old thread from 2017 asking something similar. Canloan deaths, August 30th 1944. This website was suggested. CANLOAN - Officers with British Regiments • SWWEC The Canoan Scheme All the ones you posted in post #1 are from the Royal Welch Fusiliers from that website. You left out all those that died. The ones you list survived. The dead were in orange text.
Hmm checking my database access that one doesnt appear The three I do have access [and they are really exciting] are: Canada, British Regimental Registers of Service, 1756-1900 Military 467,838 Canada, Registers of Prisoners of War, 1803-1815 Military 56,505 Canada, British Navy Ship Muster Rolls and Pay Lists, 1757-1836 Military 176,551 TD
How about 2 August, 1981, Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada? Cyril D Whittington (Unknown-1981) - Find A Grave... Owen's link begins with [Fallen Comrades shown in orange]. Besides Whittington, all officers listed in your OP survived the war. Regards, Dave
Are you trying it via your Ancestry.uk account Richard? When you input a name via the link I posted and press search a box pops up suggesting you divert to Ancestry.uk or asking do you wish to continue on Ancestry.com. I choose to continue on Ancestry.com and the results pop up. Steve EDIT TO ADD Here is the link to all the free collections on Ancestry.com Free Index Collections - Ancestry
