Yesterday, May 2nd 2023, the Pipes and Drums of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police visited Bienen - in March 1945 more than 70 Canadians of 9. Canadian Infantry Brigade were killed here and in the immediate vicinity. Local citizens and representatives of German and Dutch towns in the area joined the Canadians to commemorate those who died at Bienen dead: Canadians, Dutch forced labourers - and also the Germans killed here.
