A mate of mine has been given this bayonet/combat knife by his Father in Law. But he can't find any info on it.
He thinks it might be a bayonet to attach to a K98 or maybe a Mauser?
I said I would put it on here for him to see if anyone can provide some information, as you guys are pretty good with this stuff.
It's got a makers stamp of 'AUG Kupper'.
Many many thanks from him thru me to you.

Several years ago I bought a similar bayonet and I was told (not being an expert on the matter) that it was WWII K98 Combat Rifle Bayonet and Scabbard This K98 bayonet also had Aug Kupper on the blade which I believe is a makers mark and a Date in my case 1943 (Possibly August Kupper GmbH & Co KG, Grubenstr 13-15 42579 Heilgenhaus) The blade measured 10 inches and measured 15-1/4 inches overall length. I no longer have this bayonet but I do have a couple of photographs for comparison. Like I said I`m no expert but it gives you a starting point.

Thank you, Verrieres. This could well be the same kind of weapon then, for use with a K98. He has got the same kind of scabbard but not sure if it has a date stamped on it.
Anybody else with more info, it would be appreciated.

Forgot to mention mate that it is a nice early/pre-war war piece as it has wooden grips. Later on they used Bakerlite instead. It is not really really really rare but it wouldnt be cheap...Pm Me.

    Hi,
Some late War models went back to wooden grips because of material shortages oil and such like unless its dated or you can verify the maker/mark it will be difficult to date accurately
