I was giving this bayonet by my father. It appears to be a German GMKB bayonet but I don't know if it is authentic or a fake. The markings on the blade are ALCOSO with a scale symbol underneath that with the letters ACS in the scale. Underneath the scale symbol is the word SOLINGEN. Any help on this matter would be appreciated. Thank You

    Hi Bill, welcome aboard,
I can't really see anyone going to the trouble of faking a bayonet, unless it were a particularly rare/valuable type?
ACS is a manufacturer - 'Alex Coppel Solingen', and it looks like it's possibly for a WW1 rifle (Gew.98?) but as bayonets are not really my thing don't quote me on that, I'm sure someone will potter along and tell you what you have.

    Good luck,
    Adam.

    Hi Von Poop,
Thanks for the information and quick response. You've already told me more about it than I knew. Thanks again.
