Im trying to put together a WW2 British Army MP uniform. I found the attached picture and was wondering if it is an accurate depiction. I believe that the CMP on the top of the sleeve is Corps of Military Police and that this was worn on both sleeves. The MP arm sleeve I believe was only worn on one arm. Is that correct? Finally, does anyone know What the circle sleeve insignia (black inside and red outside) is? Thanks for your help.
I would say that it is a (British) Berlin Brigade insignia - see here: http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/modelling/27645-humber-scout-car-postwar-berlin-marking-puzzle.html & your photo would have been of a member of the Military Police 248th Provost Coy RMP L & C (1945-1949) 2d Regiment RMP (1949-1994)
XCR, I'm not sure if this will clarify or confuse the issue, but there's some WW2 CMP insignia info on this page. The MP arm sleeve was worn on right arm only. CORPS OF MILITARY POLICE - 1939-46
I belive that the black circle with the red outer is British Troops in Berlin and I believe that the white cross-straps that you can see was known unofficially as "Christmas Tree Order"
