Hi All -- my first post here! Quick question. I thought the Campaign Stars were only awarded for operational service. But I keep reading about specially approved civilians who were eligible to apply. Here for instance, para. 58 refers to: "The qualification for the specially approved categories of civilians (para. 9 (i)), who were eligible to qualify for campaign stars..." (NZDF - The Defence Medal Regulations) And again at para. 65: "The qualification for the specially approved categories of uniformed civilians (para. 9 (i) ) eligible to qualify for campaign stars..." (NZDF - The War Medal 1939 - 45 Regulations) Does anyone have the rest of this document? I'd love to know what the "specially approved categories" were. Unfortunately I can only find the above excerpts online. If anyone can shed some light on these civilian categories, I'd be very grateful. Many thanks, Chris
Hi Chris. Welcome to the forum. These are the civilians (+ dates) who could qualify for the Pacific Star.
These civilians could qualify for The Burma Star. British Army Aid Groups, South-China (Full-time bona fide civilian agents employed in operational subversive activities) 16.2.42 - 2.9.45
There is 1 group that I am aware of that has a France & Germany Star, Defence Medal & War Medal +Navel General Service service post war. The group is unique, the chap concerned was a civian fireman who was too young to be called up, however, a small group of firefighters went to Holland to put out fires in the port areas. There is no 39-45 star.. I will try to dig up his name
