Yesterday, 46 years ago the first Chancellor of the Western world visited the German Democratic Republic Stefan.
All the changes in Central Europe now seem so long ago. Long ago I had a day trip to Berlin, so glimpsed the Berlin Wall and after unification in mid-winter friends took me to the Inter-German Border (IGB) where a small portion of the border defences were intact. Incredible that this had been in Europe. Nearby was a small former US Army outpost, enough room for one or two tanks. Thanks for the reminder and my memory clicking into gear.
