  13. Chris,
My researches have taken me to the Brookwood memorial and if they indicate military personnel with no known grave what does the ''Date of Death'' refer to, as in my research case that date of death of a soldier who was a POW in Italy was given 21.11.1945

  14. Buteman

Buteman 336/102 LAA Regiment (7 Lincolns), RA

    Hi Trevor,

I presume you mean this man:-

    DALLAMORE, JOHN
    Rank: Driver
    Service No: T/68256
    Date of Death: 21/11/1945
    Regiment/Service: Royal Army Service Corps
Panel Reference: Panel 16. Column 2.
    Memorial: BROOKWOOD MEMORIAL

Obviously he would not have been a prisoner of war in November 1945 and if fit and able, could well have been posted to other duties. Unless you get a copy of his service record, I'm not sure you will find out exactly which unit he was serving with on the date of his death. RASC personnel could have been attached to any unit.

Chris may have already researched this guy though and already have the answer.

    Cheers - Rob

  15. Thanks Rob for your reply yes the soldier in question was John Dallamore and for previous correspondence see Post from Fursty Ferret 15.02.2011 and my post on my fathers connection with John Dallamore.
The reseach has now progressed further and all centres on PG62/51 Plemo camp where another inmate Herbert Hart from the same regiment as my father came into contact with him later as well.
This is now being followed up on behalf of myself and Herbert Harts daughter by my Italian friend with positive news so far.

  17. John Dallamore according to the W208 report arrived in Switzerland on the 22/12 1943.
Herbet Hart and John(Jack) Dallamore were hidden, clothed and sustained by an Italian family in the outskirts of Darfo.Valle Camonica till they were moved in seperate directions by the partisans into Switzerland
