British kitbag find BEF 1940 with unit markings to identify

I have to say that I can't see the BEF examples I've looked at as 'blue' but black dyes of the time may well have had a substantial blue content.

I had understood that there was a white kit bag pre-war for full kit on sea voyages but this didn't apply to the BEF.

Period photos of the BEF proceeding to France invariably show dark bags.
