For those of you that don't know, my interest lies in the Newcastle Home Guard. My recent discovery involves an officer in the 13th Post office Battalion. Major William Jesse Bartlett was, according to my source, with the very first units into Berlin. An employee of the GPO (Post Office) he was required to assess the status of the telecom system in Berlin immediatley after capture. I know the Soviets got their first and he would have no longer been in the Home Guard, but can anyone shed any light on this subject or point me in the right direction NcleHomeGuard
