Brilliant Rich! Thank you very much!

As you can imagine, I had a hard time deciphering the handwriting on some of the documents.
I am still wondering though, what happened with the unidentified graves after the war. All the John Doe's were buried with the other casulaties at the Wulpen cemetary in October 1940. Today, the cemetery counts only 14 British war graves - all identified.

There is a CWGC IT glitch I think. All 20 are there...https://www.cwgc.org/visit-us/find-cemeteries-memorials/cemetery-details/2023776/wulpen-churchyard/

He's in B1 which is 2nd row left. (based on seeing Private Pepall who is A5 on the right of the front row). I can definitely count 20 headstones.

SitRep on the Wulpen churchyard war graves.

The CWGC's website mentions 14 'identified' casualties. In my eagerness, I casually overlooked the word 'identified' and only paid attention to the figure '14'...

All in all, there are indeed a total of 20 fallen buried there. The website mentions the total number of graves, including the number of unidentified casualties on the bottom of the page (under 'History Information'). You need to scroll down though, or you risk missing it (as I did).

Christian, The unknowns from the Suffolk Regt may feature in the Regiments `Missing Men File` if anyone has a copy for 1940 they may have noticed either a mention/reference or a name ? The `missing` commemorated at The Dunkirk Memorial will have an enquiry into their fate attached to the file and may have testimony from survivors (thinking of Miller as his gasmask was found near the casualties bodies ? )

There`s mention of the file here so someone may have it/recall something ?

    L Cpl R C Jolly 1st Battalion Suffolk Regiment

Thread is different soldier /area but mentions the file?

This caught my attention. It looks like the temporary grave site of Edgecumbe near Esquelbecq with the cafe in the distance where he was killed with Webber.

Thanks to Drew, I'm now working my way through the Suffolk's "Missing Men" lists. Unfortunately, these were not compiled until 1941, after most of the identified casualties had been reported and it's quite difficult to make links. Some of the reports are contradictory. One states that Elgie was 11 Company but another implies 12. I shall be comparing notes with Christian and report back !

Always think it is very sad to visit Cemetries and see headstones saying 'Known to be buried in this Cemetery' or 'Believed to be buried in this Cemetery' with the saddest being 'Known to have been buried in this Cemetery but whose grave was destroyed in later battles'
