    1) Main gatehouse at Birkenau (Auschwitz camp II)

    2) Wooden barrack, Birkenau. Based on a design for military horse barn, meant for 52 horses. Used to house 400 male prisoners each (some sources claim 1000).

    3) Chimneys and foundations of disintegrated barracks. Approximate population of Birkenau at peak, c. 1943-44 - 100,000, not counting hundreds of thousands of unregistered prisoners sent directly to gas chambers upon arrival.
