A place I'd like to visit one day mainly for it wildlife. But as you know I can't go anywhere without looking up something connectioned with military history. So anyone have any info on anything that happened here in WW2 ? Białowieża Forest - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Belovezhskaya Pushcha / Białowieża Forest - UNESCO World Heritage Centre
Interesting place - looks like it saw a bit of action in 1944. I bet there are a lot of military remains tucked away in this forest!

Cheers marek, for some reason your link takes me to a stub. I tried reposting link & it sent me to unfinished page too. Not to worry I found the Battle of Kock wiki article.

Hi know its not Bialowieza, but if your interested in wildlife, Biebrza River Valley is a must - lots of Acquatic Warblers, river warblers, black storks, marsh warblers, white-tailed sea eagle, elk etc etc. Buy the map form the visitor centre, many bunkers marked including these attached. Some obviously saw no fighting as there is not a bullet mark on them, but other bunkers in the park are complely destroyed. Also some first war trenches. Ps - saw no remains in Bialowieza at all but not really looking. Dave
