    Evenin',
Just watched the John Sergeant programme, and the missus is in slightly uncommon accordance that when the CWH Lanc is visiting from Canuckia, we really must try and spot it flying alongside PA474.

Any tips on good places to catch 'em in the air while to-ing & fro-ing to the paid gigs much appreciated.

    Cheers,
    ~A

The two Lancasters are at Biggin Hill for three days on 15/16/17th August. I received an invitation to do a tour which enabled you to meet the crews and get a good photo opportunity from an open topped bus alongside. Despite the cost this sold out within minutes so I'll have to make do with sitting in the garden and watch them fly overhead!!

I'd suggest the Seven Sisters Country Park may be worth a visit on any of the Eastbourne Airborne days, that should be somewhere to easily see them over the Eastbourne beaches and no doubt they'll do a symbolic flyby at Beachy Head which was used by so many bomber crews as a last sight (and nav check) of Blighty, and an even more welcome sight on return!

Of course, after the pier fire, you may want to put some coins into the traders who have been affected.....

.... but isn't it a long way from Cefalu - or do you use black magic to travel?

I think one of the best places to see the two Lancasters for those within easy traveling distance would be around Coningsby when the Canadian Lancaster arrives.

Apparently there will be a display work up with the two aircraft together in preparation for the official display programme.Ample locations to view around Coningsby and I am sure that there will be passes over the Petwood Hotel at nearby Woodhall Spa.

FM213 will leave Canada on Monday 4 August, taking the wartime northern route and arrive in the UK,presumabily,Coningsby on Friday 8 August 2014.

I think after the work up is completed,FM213 will be based at the former RAF Kirmington, now Humberside Airport.

This is all great stuff, chaps. Thanks.
I don't doubt the thread'll be a handy reference point for other passing parsimonious Googlers too.

I thought I'd have no chance of getting to see them, but we move house tomorrow and I've heard that the place we are moving to (RAF Wyton) is going to have a fly past. Pretty excited about this, so I hope I've been told the right info.

Both are appearing in a free airshow at Ayr on 6 September. There is a paid opportunity to see them, and the other aircraft participating in the show, at Prestwick Airport the next day.

I believe they will also be flying at the Clacton Air Show on 21st and 22nd August, not sure of which day they are flying on ..... I am trying to persuade them that be that my nearly two year old grandaughter should be taken to see it, as it might be the only (last) time it will happen . It also helps that she likes seeing airplanes and copters!

Yes I see that she is due up at 1500hrs BST today which means if the original Coningsby ETA is amended, she will arrive on Saturday.

Meanwhile,I notice that the Lincolnshire County Council have put in place road restrictions around Coningsby at various times.,which will deny close up views of the aircraft unless one parks up remotely and uses shanks pony to the best viewing areas close to the runway.

Just had a very low flying noisy piston job fly over the house....very low flying authorised here...could not get out to see it but it sounded as if it was the Dakota coming off the Trent and heading cross country.

    Overnight in Iceland

    image.jpg

Landing in Keflavik, Iceland after a 7 hr, 40 minute flight yesterday. The aircraft ran beautifully. The aircraft and crew were greeted by Canada's Ambassador to Iceland, Colonel Marc Bigaouette (RCAF Advisor to the UK & Defence Attache to Iceland) as well as special invited guests. The Lancaster will make a quick flight over to Reykjavik, Iceland today landing at approx. 10:30 am to be put on public display for a few hours before returning to Keflavik. Departure from Iceland is set for early Friday for a 1:30 pm (BST) arrival at RAF Coningsby.

Thanks Lesley. The weather was super today and as a result my face now has a similar hue as the Red Arrows.
The photos can't convey the presence of ten Merlin engines thundering past though!
