    Nick,

Superb blog, comprehensive and left me wondering did they ever fire in anger?

Wiki explains that and more, yes the guns did fire, but with more problems caused for the Germans than those aimed at. Plus, the rather bizarre why ex-Russian guns, from a White Russian battleship were used. See: Batterie Mirus - Wikipedia

Congratulations to Festung Guernsey for their work too. See: Festung Guernsey | Dedicated To Preserving Guernsey's German Fortifications

Having seen firsthand other large gun batteries, notably Soviet Russian in the Crimea and WW2 German in Norway - courtesy of then being a member of the Fortress Study Group. See: The Fortress Study Group

Nick, read thru your blog and it is excellent. Then did some more research, and found a document that is the history of German forces on the Channel Islands written by their Commander (Major General Rudolf Graf von Schmettow). It’s a translation from the original German, written in 1948. You may already have this information, but thought I would let you know so I can share it with you, if you didn’t have this.

If you do wish a copy, please PM me on this site, and I’ll send you a Dropbox link to the file. It’s quite large, so I can’t post it here (over the Forums limits)

Below is the cover page of the document and the table of contents. Full document is 66 pages long.
