    3. INTERROGATION after capture:
    Were you specially interrogated by the enemy? (State where, when and methods employed by enemy).

    Yes. Name of town uncertain but it is located on French side of Franco-Italian line in the mountains. Sept. 10 '44. Methods used Friendliness later threats.

    Yes. First Attempt. Jan. 17 '45. Escaped from working party I had joined purposely from MUNICH. Companions were Sgt. Chesley Mosher , Cdn & Lawrence Back Cd. Recaptured Jan. 19 '45, AUGSBURG.
    Second Attempt. April 25 '45. Escaped marching column, hid in barn, 3 days until U.S. 3rd Army arrived.

    Canadian Soldier decorated by United States.
    It has been announced today by the Minster of National Defence that the Distinguished Service Cross (United States Distinguished Service) has been awarded to a 24-year-old Canadian sergeant from Calgary (Alta).
    B111439 Serjeant Jack Travis Barlow, a member of a detachment of the Canadian-American Special Service, received this decoration, approved by the President of the United States, for bravery in action.
    Serjeant Barlo, born in Calgary on 9 February 1920, studied in that city, and before enlistment he worked in an aircraft factory.
    He joined the Canadian Army as a private on 20 March 1942 and was promoted to his current rank a year later. He left for Overseas with a detachment of Special Service in October 1943 and participated in operations in the Mediterranean theatre.
    His mother, Mrs Alice E. Barlow, lives at 209, 18th Avenue East, Calgary.

    He passed away in Calgary 17 April 1975.
