    Thanks for posting to both. Bare Hill was a vital position during the Chindits stay at the White City block. As you might imagine from its name, it came under immense enemy fire, especially from Japanese mortars.

    From the 77 Brigade war diary:

    Japanese mortared block during the night, harassing our troops with infiltration. 1 dead Japanese in 36 Column area. Heavy fighting all night, our floater company attacking enemy from the north of perimeter. Around 50 enemy dead counted against the perimeter by dawn.
