    Award Military Cross Captain John Jaspers Selwyn, No. 3 Commando (Dieppe)

    Lieutenant (Acting Captain) John Selwyn was awarded the Military Cross in recognition of gallant and distinguished services in the combined attack on Dieppe.

    He returned safely to the UK after the raid and, after leaving No. 3 Commando, returned to his Regiment. Disembarked on D Day at Normandy with H.Q. 27 Armoured Brigade.

    Transferred to the 6th Airborne Divisional Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment in Normandy as a Squadron Commander. He remained with this unit until the end of hostilities in N.W. Europe on the Baltic.

    Promoted Major, he retired from military service on the 10th August 1959.

    The death of "H.H. Judge (Major) John Jasper Selwyn MC (3 Cdo) of Maidenhead, Berks." was announced in Commando Association newsletter 105 issued September 1997.
