Award MBE Major John Graham Ross, 2nd Parachute Battalion (88111)

Following his capture in SICILY on 17th July 1943, Major ROSS was sent to Germany. Towards the end of October 1944, with the object of escaping, he exchanged identities with an O.R. and was transferred to Stalag VIIA.

Before leaving OFLAG VIIB the Senior British Officer asked Major ROSS to perform certain Intelligence duties in the Stalag prior to his escape.

After reaching MOOSBURG Major ROSS carried out his mission successfully in the event of a collapse of German resistance.

In the meantime he performed valuable Intelligence and Security work, including helping 30 American officers to escape, two of whom reached England.
