Pte. JORDAN was captured at AREOPOLIS at the beginning of May 1941. He was in CORINTH P/W camp for about a month and then take to ATHENS en route for SALONIKA but escaped by jumping off the train in the LAMIA valley. He spent a month in the Mount OLYMPUS area learning Greek, then walked to SALONIKA. Here he obtained a Greek identity card from a policeman and walked to STAVROS but finding it impossible to enter TURKEY, retraced his steps to AGIONORUS.

Here he met two W.O.'s, with whom he remained some tome as they were both sick with malaria and unable to escape. He put them in touch with a doctor from NEO MARMORA in SITHONIA and also told them of an escape organisation, by means of which they subsequently left GREECE.

Pte. JORDAN reached SKYROS from SITHONIA, via KASSANDRA, SKOPELOS and ALLONYSOS. At SKYROS he met Cpl. ABBOTT (who has also been recommended for recognition) and a number of escapers. He obtained a boat for them from 500,000 drs. in which they proceeded to TURKEY., the fare being paid there - not known by whom.

This Private besides effecting a very good escape on his own, was instrumental in enabling quite a large number of escapers to reach neutral territory. He kept his wits about him and was undaunted by hardships and disappointments when plane failed.
