This is probably a daft question, but I am seeking clarification/confirmation of the shorthand notes added to a Grave Concentration Report Form for Rifleman Samuel Abberley - 6985634 (see below).

2 RUR's regimental history shows that he died on the 7th May 1945 however I have had it pointed out that the CWGC record and headstone shows 3rd May 1945.

The 2 RUR War Diary states no casualties were incurred on the 7th May but makes reference to a single casualty on the 3rd May where the driver of a jeep sustained fatal injuries following an accident.

The Graves Concentration Report shows "K/A" but someone has added "CC" in red ink after it.

Would I be correct in assuming that this is so that it now reads "K/ACC" i.e. killed in an accident? If so, it would seem that the regimental history may have been incorrectly recorded in this instance and I will add a not accordingly...

    Any comments/clarification welcome.

    Thanks.

This record also shows 'Accidentally Killed' 3 May 1945.
