Remembering all of the good men who were lost at Arnhem over this week and next in September 1944. The annual service is being held at the Commonwealth Cemetery in Oosterbeek, Arnhem this morning and is expected to be well attended.
The crowd was thinner than previous years that I have attended due to the rain, leading to parts of the service (the address) to be dropped. However, veterans and the flower children still played their part.
I was visiting sites at Walcheren on Sunday and saw a Dakota fly over Westkapelle around 5.30pm, heading in the direction of the UK. I'm guessing this was coming back from Arnhem?
