This might not be the appropriate location for this, but I'm about to model a 25 Pdr with Limber and Karrier KT4 "Spider" Tractor of the 25th Field Regt - 4th Indian Division during Operation Crusader.
It would probably have the red eagle on the black background of the 4th ID but can anyone tell me what AOS serial number it would have carried on the RA red/blue AOS badge? Another source has indicated it could be 41, 42 or 43 but would like to pin it down if possible.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers,

Have searched my references and have found virtually nothing on Indian Divisions, except for a vague memory that I have seen something which said they followed the same scheme as British Divisions - and they changed schemes reasonably often to confuse the system further!

As far as I can see, 4 Ind Div had, at the time of Crusader, I Fd Regt, 25 Fd Regt and 31 Fd Regt. British Infantry Divisions in the Middle East at that time seem to have allocated Fd Regts with AoS 88 for the senior (1 Fd), 71 for the middle one (25 Fd) and 53 for the junior Regt (31 Fd). Two respected references agree that these were the numbers in late 1941, so, if I was making the Spider (which I also intend to do one day) I would put 71 on it for 25 Fd Regt. On the other hand, the only pic I can find with a visible AoS number at all carries the number 33 which makes no sense whatever.

Wish I could help more as I'm sure you will do the beast justice!

My CD recce car only awaits a little weathering, and I found a CDF at a show so I can correct the cab of that kit too!

    Chris,

Many thanks for your prompt response on this one. I will go with the 71.
I'm glad to hear your CD Recce is almost done. Would really like to see some photos. The CDF, I presume is the Giesbers offering (?). I think I will have to get one.

    Cheers,
