Hi Gary Thanks for the reply. Im not sure what you mean by what file I want? The months I need are from Sept 1940 to June 1941. I would need copies of the following:
My father was in royal artillery - 151Bty 51HAA.
    WO 169/316 relates to 151Bty 51HAA 1st Sep 1940 to 31st Dec 1940.
    WO169/1574 relates 151Bty 51HAA Jan1941-Dec1941
    WO 169/1598 151Bty 51HAA Mar 1941- Jun 1941.
I don't understand why the dates of WO169/1574 and WO169/1598 overlap.
I have no idea how many pages would be involved so I may be asking the impossible from your time to my money!
Therefore would you please give me an idea of your charges? Thanks

    Hi Lars,

Apologies for the delay, I've just returned from Botswana where I had no internet or phone access for ten days.

As the rail strikes have been called off next weekend I may be able to get this month. I will PM you with more details.

    Regards,
    Gary.

    Hi,

    I'll PM you shortly.

The reason why there are two files is that 151 Battery will have been detached. sometimes the sub unit WDs are all in one file but occasionally they will have their own.

    Regards,
    Gary.

    Hi Gary,
I'm trying to research a Lt James Charles Orrell 295858 of the 8th Kings (Liverpool Irish). I have the war diaries of the Kings up until August 1944, but nothing after that. I'm just quite interested what became of this particular soldier. I can't find anything online - although I haven't looked indepth yet.

Not sure if you can help?

    Many thanks

    Duncan

From the casualty lists he was wounded in North West Europe sometime around Juy/August 1944, it states however that he was attached to another regiment. If you are wishing to research him you may need to widen your search to make sure you look at the correct regiment at the correct time.

Any research should always start with their MOD service records which should provide that timeline.

W/Lt is War Substantive Lieutenant, a rank for the duration of the war.

    Hi
After receiving my Grandfathers service record, I would like to be able to view the war diaries associated with 20 Anti-Tank Regiment Royal Artillery.
    I believe that its,

    WO 171/913 - 1944 Jan.- Dec.
    WO 171/4764 - 1945 Jan.- Sept.
Would there be someone who could help me with this?

    Thanks
    Steve
