Hi All With the launch of the Army wills service, from which I have downloaded the will of my great uncle, Frederick Henry Ellison, who died on the 12th May 1942 and is buried in Egypt, I wondered if personal effect registers exist for WW2 Army casualties similar to those for WW1 held by the National Army Museum? Otherwise would such information be on his Army file? We only have his record as supplied when the Army service records people excerpted basic service information from the file, rather than the full photocopy they now send. Best Justin
Just seen answer to the question in wills thread, NAM registers go up to 1960: http://ww2talk.com/forums/topic/49321-first-world-war-second-world-war-wills/?p=581335 Still unsure if personal effects mentioned on service records though.
Justin, On being sent my late grandfather service records included within was a copy of his personal effects returned from Italy. These were detailed on Army Form B104-126. The delivery of the effects needed to be signed for by next of kin. Regards, Gary
