My first trip around april will be to France to Cabourg then onto the Merville Battery, Pegasus Bridge then onto the cemetery at Tilly Sur Selles to pay my respects at my uncles grave.
We might stay overnight somewhere near Bayeaux and visit one of the beaches then head home.

Me and the Mrs will be in France from 9 June, doing a 4 day small group tour of the Normandy region.
After France we head to Munich, Eagles Nest, Dachau etc it's not totally planned out yet as we only have 2 weeks.

I will plan a trip to Cambrai to visit the battlefield of the nov 1917 attack. Never been there before, so if anyone has any suggestions? e.g. is there a Museum nearby

Some books that might be worth looking at .
Cambrai: Hindenburg Line (Battleground Europe): Amazon.co.uk: Jack Horsfall, Nigel Cave: Books

Bourlon Wood (Battleground Europe): Amazon.co.uk: Jack Horsfall, Nigel Cave: 9780850528183: Books

The Battle for Flesquieres Ridge (Battleground Europe): Amazon.co.uk: Jack Horsfall, Nigel Cave: 9780850528978: Books

Have met Jack a few times , years ago, a great public speaker full of enthusiasm for his subject.
I haven't been to Cambrai visiting the battlefields since 1992 .
My Great-Uncle fought there with 4GG.

Oh you might find this thread of interest.

Thanks Owen and Randy, I recently purchased the Official History of the Great War, 1917, vol.III on the Cambrai battle. I am halfway through.

I already have the Battleground book on the Flesquires Ridge (really informative volume).

Also bought Bryn Hammond's "Cambrai 1917, The Myth of the first Great Tank Battle", which has good maps, but otherwise tends to bog down in eyewitness accounts.

I wonder if there are any monographs on the exploits of the tank units.

    Nothing WW2 related this year.

I'm doing some walking around Ypres in April and I'm off the Gallipoli in September.

My wife and I will be visiting Normandy for the anniversary, then heading down to Lake Como in Italy - visiting the small lake towns where Mussolini was captured and killed.

I'll be on a sabbatical leave and travelling from New Zealand in June. Hope to get to Little Rissington where my Dad did a captains course. Then on to the site of RAF Alness and Comraty Firth where he managed to put a Sunderland in the drink.

June & Normandy planned,'though less time than I'd like...

Including staying at a brewery near Rouen (well, you have to, don't you? :)) then a day in Honfleur that me & my buddy have been promising each other for a couple of years & then a day around EPSOM battlefield & Rauray Spur, then onto an Advance Landing Ground between Bayeux & St Lo where two of the pilots that I'm researching took off from on their last mission, then onto St Charles de Percy for 6th June Ceremony & then working back up to UK with maybe some WW1 & more beer

... The better half has also suggested a trip to Normandy at Easter...

Booked six nights in Aunay last night. Now to decide where to go and what to see....

I've also got to schedule in some non-WW2 activities, so might suggest the Bayeux Tapestry.
