Hi all. Just acquired a post war uniform to Captain Arthur Napier Jordan who served during ww2 and then joined (I think) the Parachute Regiment in the 1950s. Would love to know what medals he would have earned so I can put together a bar of miniatures, or anything else about him. Thanks for reading, Mark.

"Naps" Napier appears twice in 'The Die Hards' the Middx. Regmt. journal, March 1959, in the party greeting the 1st Bn. on returning to the UK and when he was Adjutant 8th Bn. Middx. Regmt., a TA unit that had been 11 Para. He was due to leave for Northern Rhodesia, as a tobacco farmer. See: http://queensregimentalassociation.org/pdfs/volume-13/vol-13-7.pdf

Shown as a Regular officer in June 1950, with 1st Bn.: http://queensregimentalassociation.org/pdfs/volume-9/vol-9-6.pdf

He is in a 1952 8th Bn officers photo: http://queensregimentalassociation.org/pdfs/volume-10/vol-10-7.pdf

    At a 1954 dinner: http://queensregimentalassociation.org/pdfs/volume-12/vol-12-1.pdf

See for possible help: 1661-1992 They have no museum, it was absorbed into the National Army Museum.

Slightly puzzled there is no obituary for him in the journal. The website is NT too.

I did have a quick look for him appearing in Northern Rhodesia, nowt (not a great shock) and Southern Rhodesia too, as many moved south when it became Zambia.

"Naps" appears on a death notices subscription website: IdentityNumber.org - Browse Death Notices Never encountered that site before.

I suspect it is a US website as a wider search found a number of Americans named Arthur N. Jordan.

Arthur Napier Jordan, known as Naps passed away on 14 May 1999 in Somerset West, Cape Town, South Africa after a long struggle with cancer. He was survived by his wife Sheila Margaret Jordan, four daughters Ann, Susan, Barbara and Nicola and seven grandchildren. One of his grandchildren, Ben Smith, found this site. His daughters have seen this and will try and correlate more information for you.
