    Guys,

I have now heard from Nigel that his Father is Allan George Sheffield who l believe to be Cadet A G Sheffield who trained with my Father at 2SFTS, Brize Norton, in late 1940/early 1941. He is applying for his Fathers service record as suggested by Peter but in the mean time can anyone add to his knowledge.

What l know and believe is that Cadet A G Sheffield is WO Allan George Sheffield (1164822 to 176663, Commissioned on 13th May 1944) and promoted FO on 28th November 1944. He was awarded a DFC with 625 Squadron on 12th December 1944. He remained in the RAF, retaining the rank of FO 25th February 1950 and relinquishing his commission on 27th February 1955. Born on the 23rd November 1921 (in Barrow S) and passed away in Southampton in March 2002. Nigel believes his Father flew spitfires but l was pleased to hear that he started on Bombers as this, together with his service number, backs up the fact he was with 2 SFTS.

    Regards,

    Nick
