Can anyone tell me if I can gain access to Escape and Evade reports at the archives in Kew? I want to try and look up to see if there was any E&E reports filled in by a soldier who evaded capture in 1940. If so, I am looking for the report filled n by H Surridge who evaded capture in 1940. I had actually launched a thread a while ago about this guy but did not think about looking at E&E reports. Happy New year by the way to all out there. Alex.
Link to other thread. H Surridge R.A.F I thought horsapassenger posted the E&E report on there, post #4.
Sorry I am beiing really thick about this. Yes, horsapassenger did post a copy. I wonder if the archives have anything else on him.
It looks as if Cpl HWC Surridge was heading south west under orders for a withdrawal from the western ports when he was captured. However while there were members of 26 companies of the Auxiliary Military Pioneer Corps on board the Lancastria berthed in the St Nazaire roads,it appears that No 111 Company of which Cpl Surridge was a member was not represented on board.....this company may been regarded as "lucky"

I visited the archives today and found anther E&E report filled in by two other soldiers from the AMPC who were caught the same time as Surridge in the same place. They say that their regiment surrendered to the enemy. Does anyone know what happened at that time in the area of Fleury Sur Andelle? Was there some form of battle? As soon as I can I will be uploading their E&E report, I am having problems getting access to the digital copies I made. I will hopefully get it uploaded tomorrow.
