    I am currently publishing scans and transcriptions of the 1,000 or so letters and documents exchanged by my Grandparents during WW2 online. Items are posted in chronological order with supporting material wherever possible. They can be read as a story and if you want to do that start here.

    I’m not sure how interested people are in seeing what soldiers wrote home to children but I find it fascinating.

    Given that a child is being spoken to censorship seems easy to avoid, and yet as any parent knows it can feel impossible to express love and concern beyond simply saying “I love you.” Knowing every letter could be the last.

    There’s something very timeless about the simplicity of letters like these.
